Gently smooth the lace from the center outward while lightly stretching it to restore its shape. Ironing both sides may flatten the delicate texture of the lace and alter its appearance. Although many lace doilies are finished with spray starch, starch may cause discoloration over time. For this reason, our doilies are left in their natural, unstiffened state. Drying After gently removing excess moisture with a towel, reshape the doily and lay it flat to dry on a clean towel. To help prevent discoloration over time, dry it in the shade and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Ironing Use a low to medium heat setting and iron one side only. Gently smooth the lace from the center outward while lightly stretching it to restore its shape. Ironing both sides may flatten the delicate texture of the lace and alter its appearance. Although many lace doilies are finished with spray starch, starch may cause discoloration over time. For this reason, our doilies are left in their natural, unstiffened state.
